In 2018, at just 19 years old, Chelsea first walked through the doors of Legacy. As a young mother trying to navigate the overwhelming responsibilities of parenting, she needed a place of support, and Legacy became exactly that.
Back then, her first child was just a baby, and now, six years later, she has two children—a six-year-old and a three-month-old baby boy. From the start, Legacy provided her with the essentials and more. She connected with our lactation consultant for breastfeeding support, attended the CPN community baby shower, and got enrolled in WIC, which helped ease the financial burden. She even became CPR certified through Legacy, gaining skills that made her feel more confident as a mother.
But the journey hasn’t always been easy. Her husband has struggled with a seizure disorder, making it difficult for him to maintain steady work. Just six months ago, he underwent brain surgery, a challenging chapter for their family. “Legacy is like a second family to me, I basically grew up here.”
Whether it was providing baby supplies, offering a listening ear, or simply being a safe and welcoming space, Legacy was always there.
Over the years, she didn’t just receive support; she gave back in her own way. Seeing the impact Legacy had on her life, she eagerly referred friends, her brother, and other family members. Her story became a testament to the value of a community that cares.
Looking back, she realizes how much she has grown alongside her children within Legacy’s walls. It’s not just a place she visits—it’s a place where she has found guidance, comfort, and a sense of belonging.
