When her first child was born in 2020, right in the heart of the pandemic, this single mother found herself navigating new motherhood in a world that felt uncertain and isolated. Resources were limited, and everything looked different — curbside pickups for diapers, wipes, and formula were the norm. It was hard, and she knew she needed a village to lean on.

Now a mom of three — with children ages 4, 2, and a 4-month-old — she reflects on how far she and her family have come. "Back then, things were just different. The program wasn’t as built out as it is now, and the staff has grown so much. It’s a whole community now."

Legacy became that village for her — a place where she found not just resources, but real connection. Through parenting classes and support groups, she’s learned valuable tools and perspectives that she hadn’t considered before. “There’s always something new to learn, especially now with kids of different ages and different needs. It's comforting to know I'm not the only one going through these things.”

She says the emotional growth she’s experienced — both for herself and her children — has been life-changing. She’s learned how to better communicate with her kids and feels more confident as a mother. Recently, she made the brave decision to leave her job and take new employment that allows her to be more present for her children.

“Legacy has helped me feel like I’m not alone. It’s given me a sense of community and strength — exactly what I needed to keep going.”
